Go Team GB!

I am not a sports fan.  Ordinarily I would not choose to watch any sport on TV but the Olympic fever has caught me in its grasp and I am hooked!  I wanted to take the boys to an event so we can all say 'I was there' but didn't fancy going up to London due to the crowds etc.  When browsing the ticket website and seeing there was football on at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, I got tickets for us to see the Quarter Finals on Saturday.  DH and I were shouting at the TV on Wednesday night as if Team GB won, it would mean they would be playing in the QF we had tickets for.  Woo hoo, how lucky was that!

We'd kept it a secret from the boys, they knew we were going to Cardiff but they thought it was to visit the castle :).  The drive took longer than we expected due to traffic and the weather, so we only had the chance to see the outside of the castle and visit the Lego shop.  We had to walk past the stadium to get back to the park and ride so we said we would go and have a photo outside.... and then we told the boys we could go in as we had tickets.  This was the reaction:

The atmosphere was amazing, all the volunteers were so helpful and friendly and despite the match not being the most thrilling of games, it was well worth going.  The boys were waving their flags and inflatable hands the whole time, and loved doing the mexican waves.

I really hope that the memory sticks with them for years to come.  They have loved watching all the different sports on the TV too, and every time they go outside they play something and then announce they have won a gold medal for Team GB lol.

Short back and sides please....

Clyde had his first haircut back in the middle of June - we only had a little bit taken off because it was his first time and he looked good a bit scruffy.  Problem is that with the heat we have been having, the poor boy was suffering, and he was beginning to look a bit too scruffy.  So today he went for a 'proper' cut.

Here's the before......

and here's the after.....

Think we can safely say we got our money's worth this time lol.  He does look a dude though, and his coat is so soft to stroke along his back.  Groomer said he was as good as gold too, so thumbs up all round :)

UKS July week 4 challenge

A bit late in uploading due to a marathon gardening session this weekend, but I finished this LO at our crop last Wednesday.  It's using a Total Papercrafts kit.

The criteria was to use your favourite colour combo (I love a good contrast, so these light and dark papers are great), favourite technique (strips of journalling and no hand cutting!), and favourite thing to do when/if you have time off from work/chores/looking after people/etc (The Crumblies retreats, I love having a weekend to myself with my scrapping buddies!).

The torch

One of the teachers at the boys' school borrowed one of the Olympic torches from someone she knew and kindly took photos of all the children holding it....... How cool is that?!

However not all the children *did* hold it, as someone refused to saying he didn't want to.  He can be a right stubborn so and so.  How frustrating, missing a once in a lifetime opportunity.  Of course the good news is that with Photoshop, he *will* hold that torch whether he wants to or not!!! lol

Finally my mojo returns....

I haven't done any scrapping at all since the all day crop last month, but finally this past week my mojo seems to have returned!  Here are the LOs I have done/finished:

I thought as the boys would be posing for this year's back to school photo soon, I had better get last year's scrapped asap.  This is using a Total Papercrafts kit (wasn't too sure about the rulers when I received the kit, but once I remembered this photo I think they work really well).

This next LO is using the crop sketch for June.  The criteria was to use the colours red/white/blue (which I forgot about) or lots of bling.  So gems galore it was!

And finally this is my LO for Mary's weekly challenge over on UKS.  The criteria was to use a sketch, less than perfect photos (action shots taken by Dave whilst trying not to look obvious!), and black somewhere on the LO.

The sun (yes it has finally arrived!!!) was bouncing off the white cardstock and safmat when I took the photo but it looks fine IRL ;)

Catching up with the team sketches

I've very good at printing out our team sketches as soon as they are posted, but it's the doing them that takes the time.  Anyway, I've now done a LO using the April sketch, I rotated the photo and finally used the papers I bought while on holiday last summer.....

This is DH at around the same ages as DS1, on an original chopper (don't make them like they used to apparently!).

UKS weekly challenge - June week 1

I couldn't resist the Portobello Road paper pack any longer, and it was perfect for these photos of the boys in their crowns they had to make for the school garden party.

The challenge criteria was to use red/white/blue, at least 2 photos and include journalling and I've used our May crop sketch as inspiration for a 2-in-1 LO :-)
