There is never enough thyme

Yep, that's very true!

I never promised you a rose garden

Apparently this will become a lovely pink patio rose in the summer......

Bit prickly for my liking!

You should compost because a rind is a terrible thing to waste

OK, confession time. We don't compost. We have nowhere to put it. Joe's mummy read somewhere they can encourage mice so that was a big no no as we already have little visitors from time to time. And when she was younger her and her sister made some when they lived at home. Never again.... it obviously wasn't done right. It was awful and she will never ever do it again.

On the plus side, we do put all our garden rubbish out for the recycling and they turn it into compost. In the summer we do add our compostable (love that word) waste to the bags. And we do have a water butt, which is my photo for today.

A thing of beauty is a joy forever

Well obviously I am a joy forever, but I decided to go with these daffodils for today's prompt. They really are lovely and it is a shame they only last for the spring. Considering these get no attention whatsoever from the people in this house, get whacked with footballs etc (you can probably see the evidence!).... they come up looking great year after year.

Scatter seeds of happiness

We were all set to plant the seeds we bought - but Joe's mummy didn't have any compost in the shed, we must have used it all last year. So all I can do is look at the packets for now....

We have other seeds in the garden at the moment though - bird seeds. They are quite liking their new feeding station, but we're still waiting for the goldfinches to make an appearance. Joe's daddy took the tray off today as the big greedy pigeons are sitting in it, scoffing all the food!

Let’s get down and dirty

Luckily not too dirty because as I mentioned in my previous post, not too much work needed here at the moment. Joe's mummy said she would be more than happy for me to help in the garden in a couple of months when hopefully it will look a bit better!

Every garden may have some weeds

I've not spent much time in our garden to be honest, except on some of my extreme sports moments.... The back garden is looking pretty good on the weed front, not many at all. But would you look at this. I think someone needs to do some weeding pronto at the front - there is a wide and varied selection here!

Extreme sports - go on, have a go!

Initially this week's extreme sports was going to be water ski-ing.... but Joe's mummy hit a few problems like a) where would we ski b) what would we use for skis and c) how would I stay upright on the skis bearing in mind my rather ample posterior which makes me back heavy.

So we opted for me becoming a skater boy after Liam and Joe made me a skateboard out of their mobilo. And then their daddy set about constructing a half pipe (whatever one of those is, it looks like a ramp to me!). Have a look to see how I got on.... that pin holding my tail to my bottom was a little painful but it held me upright brilliantly! Cool tricks huh?

Can you spot the mistake? Yes that's right, I did not have the proper safety gear on. But as you can see, that in itself had some problems. I didn't even attempt the elbow and knee pads!

We did have a 2nd option for the extreme activity to post today, but I think I will save that for next week. Don't want to run out of crazy ideas before the end of the year!

Recycling

Well, most of you have met Joe's mummy and so you know she is a Recycling Ambassador! This is just a small collection of the things we have recycled this week - we are lucky that everything gets kerbside collected.

Favourite children's game or activity

As I like space so much, and I love Lego too - these Star Wars ships that Uncle Julian gave to the boys are just the best!!

Which planet would I like to visit?

Well I know the names of all the planets and Liam has been teaching me about their colours and sizes. I would like to visit Uranus the most - it must be a very funny place to go as Joe's daddy always has a little giggle when Liam sounds out the name when reading it..... apparently his mummy is too mature to find it funny ;-)

Mother's Day hug

We love mummy lots and lots, fifty one hundred times apparently.... you've gotta love the way these human kids count :-)

My favourite film

I have 2 actually - Jungle Book and Madagascar. Both starring monkeys so that just makes them even better.

Found this one in amongst Joe's daddy's DVDs - doesn't look very light and entertaining to me. Although Joe's mummy has just noticed it has Brad Pitt in it, so said she might need to watch it....

Signs of spring

It's my turn to set the prompts this week so I thought I had better try to make an extra special effort to do the photos each day.... 1st prompt was go outside and see what signs of spring you can see.

Well I managed to miss the 5 seconds of sun we had today, but at least I managed to climb our cherry blossom tree to get this photo of the buds before it started to rain. Boy I had to hang on tight!! Joe's mummy said this will soon look really beautiful with pink flowers.

Prompts for w/c 5th March

Here we are again, posting the whole week in one go {{rolleyes}}.... big thanks to my cuz Bongo for these prompts, inspired by quotes from some Dr Suess books.

“From there to here, and here to there, funny things are everywhere.”
This is Joe's daddy's headband for when he rides his bike to work. Doesn't he look a twit? Looks like crotchless speedo's LOL

“Just tell yourself, Duckie, you're really quite lucky.”
This morning I was playing kerplunk with Joe. He seems to think it is really good to get lots of marbles - and if you get the gold one that means you are really lucky. Excellent news for me as I got loads and the gold one!

“I like nonsense; it wakes up the brain cells.”
Here I am cutting some shapes to pure rock 'n' roll baby! Wakes my brain cells up no problem.

“Today you are you, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is youer than you.”
And I do love being me!

“Think left and think right and think low and think high. Oh, the thinks you can think up if only you try.”
I decided to have an explore around Joe's daddy's den as it has the highest shelf I have ever seen. And would you believe he has not one, but two remote control cars. The other one doesn't have anywhere to sit, but I think it would go fast. I reckon I could think up something good to do with this car if I was allowed LOL.

Now.... just need to work out how to get back down!

“Today was good. Today was fun. Tomorrow is another one.”
Well I was left on my own for most of the day while Joe and his mummy went to Ikea with Grandpa and Auntie Sue. And what a mess there was while everything was put into the storage boxes!! Still, it was fun to watch and as I had the computer to myself I wrote my prompts for next week and found this photo that Joe's mummy took the other night from her workroom window.... what a lovely sunset.

“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.”
Quite conveniently, Liam brought home Listening Bear from school yesterday. He is a nice chap, and we had fun reading Liam's book together after he had gone to bed.

Prompts for w/c 26th February

Thanks to Paula and Koala for this week's prompts. Sorry I've not been able to post each day but here goes:

Favourite/usual form of transport

We tend to do most of our travelling in the car... and apparently Joe's mummy reeeeallly likes her new one. Not that she has mentioned it much ;-)

Group hug

Well it was lovely to meet up with all my challenge friends at the Make It show.

I especially liked meeting my cuz, Bongo. He is one cool dude!

And I am glad I am facing away from the camera here as I was blushing like mad! No wonder Duckie didn't know where to look!!

Unusual mode of transport

Well, I am sure most of you have come to expect extreme sporting activities in this house... and this is me parachuting. It was a bit nerve racking waiting to jump, but once that count to 3 was done I was off. It was truly fantastic and I hope I get to do it again soon!

(you'll have to excuse the blurry photos, but for some reason Joe's mummy and the boys were laughing quite a lot during my free fall)

Own transport

Unbeknown to me, Joe's daddy has a couple of remote control cars - and today I was allowed to ride in one. It's like having your own chauffeur, how cool is that??!! Here's a little video, but by this point the batteries were getting a flat. boo-hoo :-(

Was a bit fast and bumpy though, my seat belt wasn't tight enough and I fell out at one point. Just goes to show kids - buckle up tight and keep safe!

What craft tool do I most like to use?

I think that would be punches, nice and easy although pretty hard work for a little guy. Just as well I am super strong LOL

Do I get to stroke stash?

I am hoping only scrappers read this, or gossip could start. The answer is no, no-one is allowed near the stash, we can only gaze longingly......

What craft embellishment best reflects my personality?

I am super sweet so I could say flowers....

... but most of all, I have the personality of a monkey like this cute little fella that Shirley bought for me last weekend. Thanks Shirley!
